From the North Atlantic lobster off of the coast of New England to the hand-tamed stingrays at Stingray City of Cayman Islands, the underwater world is an adventure waiting to be shared. Water covers two-thirds of our planet and represents the last great frontier on earth. Divers underwater are able to experience what many just dream about -- the exploration of sunken shipwrecks, the wonder of marine life, the lure of game fish, and the beauty of the coral reef.
Learning to dive is not as difficult as many people believe. You need not be a competitive swimmer or an olympic athlete. A reasonable fitness level, comfortable swimming skills, good health, minimum age of 12, a positive attitude, and a desire to learn are the only prerequisites.
Training begins with SCUBA DIVER entry level certification course. Our courses consist of 6 classroom sessions and 6 pool sessions, and 5 open water dives given by our well-trained and safety conscious instructors and assistants. The basics of scuba diving will be taught and practiced throughout the sessions, creating knowledgable and comfortable scuba divers, all while having fun learning new skills!
Our course fee includes books, classroom, pool, certification card, use of all needed scuba equipment (tanks, regulators, buoyancy compensators, weight belts with weights, and wetsuit). You only need to supply your own mask, snorkle, booties, and fins which can be purchased at the shop. While you're taking your course, any purchases you make at Divers Cove get a 10% discount.
When all requirements have been completed in your SCUBA DIVER course, you will receive a certification card which will be recognized world-wide for being able to rent and/or purchase scuba life-support equipment and go diving.
After you have learned the basic skills for scuba diving, a great way to enhance your diving experience is to take an ADVANCED DIVER course. This course includes 1 classroom session and 8 different open water dives. You may dive in a quarry, night dive, learn to navigate with a compass underwater, use a camera underwater, dive a wreck, and many other experiences - learning new skills and techniques. The Advanced Diver certification also opens the way for more opportunities for boat charters, as many of the locations require the advanced card.

ADVANCED SCUBA DIVER COURSE - Jun 05, 2013 @ 6:00 pm
Advanced Diver course starts Wednesday, June 5, 6pm, at the shop. Diving weekends will be June 15 & 16 AND June 22 & 23. Both weekends must be done to complete the course.
Sign up early - space limited to 6. Cost $400 includes boat charter. Equipment is available for rental - 2 weekends for the price of one.
BASIC SCUBA COURSE - BRANFORD YMCA - Jul 13, 2013 @ 2:00 pm
New basic scuba course starts Saturday, July 13, at the Branford YMCA, 2pm.- 6:30 pm
Course consists of 6 weeks of classroom and pool. Be sure to bring your swimsuit on the first day!
Course fee of $350 includes books, classroom, pool, certification card, use of all needed scuba equipment, wetsuit, open water dives
Not included are mask, fins, snorkel, and booties which are available for purchase at Divers Cove with 10% discount.
